What are the sizes of the bath, depending on the type

A beautiful and comfortable bath will allow you to regularly enjoy water treatments. By combining the optimal shape and size of the bath, the manufacturers satisfy all the needs of the customers. The dimensions of the product are chosen based on the parameters of the room, the purchase budget, the possibility of comfortable and safe operation. Standard plumbing products of domestic or foreign production are produced from different materials: cast iron, steel, acrylic.

Matching the dimensions to the capabilities of the bath

When choosing the parameters of the bath, it must be borne in mind that in addition to standard plumbing, a washing machine, furniture are installed, and a free area is provided for movement in the room.

It should be borne in mind that with the same dimensions of products, their capacity may be different. Internal dimensions depend on the angle of inclination of the walls, the presence of armrests and headrests, curves and protrusions. However, an oval or corner bath that is too large will take a long time to fill. Water consumption when using it will be uneconomical.

The standard dimensions of the bath have the following meaning:

  • length - 1.5 m, 1.7 m, 1.8 m. The value is measured on top of the product together with the sides;
  • width 0.7 m, 0.8 m, 0.85 m. Determined by the upper part without taking into account the sides. For elliptical models, measure at the head and in the drain area;
  • height - 0.4 m, 0.6 m, 0.65 m. To measure the height, a rail is placed on the sides in the area of the drain hole. Down from it to the drain hole, measure the height of the product.

The ratio of the length and height of the product is determined by the rule: as the length increases, the height decreases.

A small bathtub, complemented by a good curtain, can be used as a shower stall. Small plumbing products of non-standard shapes allow even a tall person to be accommodated comfortably, in a reclining position - half-sitting. Often the diminutiveness of the size does not mean the limited technical equipment. Baths are complemented by options for hydromassage, water temperature preservation, air massage.

Note what factors need to be considered when choosing the parameters of a sanitary product:

  • when in water, the head of a person should be located above the filling level;
  • the width of the product is determined in accordance with the physique of the largest member of the family. When it is immersed in water, the distance from the shoulders to the sides must be at least 5 cm;
  • an oval bathroom is suitable for tall people. Products of non-standard sizes, corner models are used with a medium-sized build. The seated model is chosen if the room is small or for elderly, sick people;
  • a comfortable posture for washing - reclining, when all parts of the body are immersed in the water, legs are extended. The height of the bathtub should allow you to take this position, usually it is 50-60 cm;
  • an oval model is suitable for a standard room. The size is selected based on the distance between opposite walls, minus a few centimeters for wall decoration;
  • for large rooms in an apartment, installation options are different: along the wall, in the center of the room on legs. There are no restrictions on the size or shape of the product.

A huge selection of models on the sanitary ware market allows you to choose the most suitable option for each consumer. Baths made of different materials have their own characteristics, as well as unequal parameters.

Cast iron baths

Cast iron products are distinguished by their reliability, durability and strength. The water in them does not cool for a long time, although the inner surface does not heat up quickly. The price of high-quality cast-iron bathtubs is high, however, it is justified by a long service life.

The standard considerable weight of cast iron from which the baths are made requires special installation conditions. For installation, cast supports are prepared, which are fixed to the body. Cast iron is a difficult metal to process, therefore, products of traditional shapes are made from it: oval or elliptical. The models have different dimensions:

  • small baths measuring 1.2x0.7 m, with a capacity of 140 liters are the most common. Models 1.3x0.7 m are made to order. Used when you need to save space;
  • medium-sized models are 1.4x0.7 m or 1.5x0.7 m. They are suitable for non-standard rooms. Average capacity - 170 liters;
  • the standard for large cast-iron baths is 1.7x0.7 m or 1.85x0.85 m. The models are suitable for open-plan rooms. Capacity - up to 195 liters of water.

It is possible to manufacture cast iron baths of any size for individual orders. To update the old plumbing products, an acrylic liner is used. For safe use, the models have special handles that serve as a support when diving or exiting. During the installation process, the bottom is located at a height of at least 14.5 cm from the floor level, which is necessary for installing the drain siphon.

Steel baths

Steel products are a budget option for plumbing. Baths have a weight of no more than 30 kg with a wall thickness of 0.3 cm. The inner steel surface is covered with enamel, the quality of the model is not inferior to cast iron. The suggested shapes are oval and elliptical.

Steel baths are produced in the same dimensions as cast iron products:

  • depth - 0.65 m;
  • length range 1.5-1.8 m;
  • width range 0.7-0.85 m.
Dimensions of standard steel baths

When choosing, they are guided by the parameters of the room. Installation methods are different, light weight allows you to place the products on legs or on a stand.

To minimize a significant drawback of steel baths - high noise, special rubber gaskets are used or a layer of polyurethane foam is applied to the outer surface.

The high sound insulation properties of rubber and foam will ensure a quieter bath. Special mixers are also selected. For people who are significantly overweight, it is better not to choose steel bathtubs. The lower zone under high pressure may bend, the enamel coating will be damaged, and the service life will be reduced.

Acrylic bathtubs

There are models made of acrylic of various parameters, however, standard products have a length of 1.2-1.9 m, a width of 0.7-1.7 m. and unusual: triangular, asymmetric, trapezoidal.

Achievements in the production of sanitary ware - acrylic bathtubs have a lot of advantages:

  • the low weight of acrylic products will allow them to be installed quickly and easily;
  • acrylic is a heat-resistant material with bactericidal properties;
  • the opportunity to purchase a product in the color that will most harmoniously fit into the interior of a standard room.

Sizes of acrylic bathtubs

To install the bath, prepare the supports or place it on adjustable screw legs. For ease of use, the upper edge of the bathtub should be located no higher than 50-60 cm from the floor. The disadvantages of acrylic products include the high fragility of the material, which imposes a limitation on the ability to operate the products. Care and cleaning is required careful, without the use of abrasive substances, sharp objects.

Application of acrylic liners

Acrylic liner is a bath insert that is made of ABS + PMMA polymer material called sanitary acrylic. The insert is used in cases when it is necessary to update an outdated bath. As a result of the installation, a new acrylic bathtub on a cast iron frame is obtained. An acrylic liner is produced from a 6 mm thick polymer sheet; there are products of various shapes.

The insert must have dimensions exactly corresponding to the dimensions of the cast-iron bath, a difference of 2 cm or more will lead to depressurization and the appearance of cracks.

The acrylic liner is attached to the base with an adhesive. Installation takes 1-2 hours, and in a day you can use the bathroom. To install the liner, you do not need to dismantle communications or wall coverings. The acrylic liner has a price lower than the new acrylic bathroom, but in appearance and characteristics it is not inferior to it. The updated oval bath, subject to the rules of operation, will last up to 15 years.

Corner models

Corner baths can have different shapes: triangular, asymmetrical, trapezoidal, rounded. The variety of models allows you to choose the most functional option for any room.

The standard length of the corners of the product does not exceed 1.5 m, however, you can find both products with dimensions of 0.9x0.9 m and 2x2 m. The capacity of corner models does not exceed 400 liters. The most popular triangular-shaped models have dimensions of 1.2x1.2 m and 1.5x1.5 m, the depth varies from 0.45 m to 0.8 m. Products with a hydromassage function are usually large, for example, 1.8x1.8 m.

Many corner models have built-in shelves for storing sauna accessories. When installing a standard corner model, a flat surface of the walls is essential for a snug fit. Installation is carried out on a special base or the product is installed on legs or brackets.

Models from unconventional materials

Recently, wooden bathtubs have been gaining popularity. They are made from solid pieces of oak. Wooden products are made to order, based on personal preferences and room parameters. The traditional shape is oval, but it is possible to produce asymmetrical, triangular models. Wood products are installed on legs or stands. Such baths have unique properties - with prolonged use, their strength increases. The high price that wooden fonts have is justified by the considerable price of wood, the complexity of making a bath, and the healing effect on the human body.

Another option for exclusive baths is made of natural or artificial stone: marble, granite, sandstone, onyx, travertine. The products are individually sized and heavy, and each bath is unique. With proper operation, the service life is up to 50 years.

Plumbing products for taking water procedures while sitting

The sitz bath is often used when there is a medical indication for taking water procedures in an upright position. It is made of acrylic, steel, cast iron. Products are produced in various shapes: rectangular, with rounded edges, triangular. The seated model is suitable for small rooms and allows rational use of free space.

This bathtub is available in different sizes:

  • the smallest sit-down bath is 1 m long and 0.7 m wide;
  • medium-sized models, which are 1.2 m long and 1.1 m wide, are the most popular;
  • a sit-down bath with dimensions of 1.2x0.7 m or 1.5x0.7 m is close to the standard options. The considerable length of the model allows it to be used even by large people.

The small capacity of such products allows you to save water, since they are filled with water only up to the level of the lower abdomen. Modern seated plumbing is equipped with a car-like door. It simplifies the process of accepting water treatments for the elderly or disabled.
