What is the size of a standard bath in an apartment

Once upon a time it was customary to make rooms "typical". That is, to build houses according to the same projects, with the same room dimensions. Indeed, it is very convenient for the rest of the industry. Let's remember the so-called stalinkas - houses that were built until the mid-50s. These were different projects, with different room sizes, including bathrooms. Everything depended on what kind of contingent should live in a particular house. And there was a difficulty in this.

For example, the manufacture of bathtubs, namely bathing tanks. It was very difficult to guess the size: in one apartment it was enough to install a reservoir 1.2 meters long, and in another room it was too small. But since the construction of the Khrushchev buildings, with their similarity and small dimensions, everything began to simplify. Most of the bathrooms in Khrushchev are tiny rooms, among which 4 square meters is already a luxury! And if earlier there was no such amount of all kinds of plumbing equipment, which swept aside any dreams of increasing the space, today even in the bathroom 2.5 "squares" you can turn around quite well.

Imagine a tiny room, for finishing the floor of which, for example, a few slabs of the same porcelain stoneware are enough, but many manage to make it functional by installing a washing machine, a bath or a shower cabin, and even some furniture. Moreover, in some bathrooms of this format, the bathtubs may well be from 1.5 to 1.7 m. Moreover, this is a kind of standard, which at a certain time was predominant in the plumbing market. And even now, among the whole variety of bathtubs, most of the standard sizes are observed, namely: 1 m, 1.2 m, 1.5 m, 1.7 m. And all because both in a Khrushchev and in a panel house, the length one bathroom wall or 1.5, or 1.7 m, plus or minus half a meter.

So, let's take a closer look at most of the existing options, based on the type of house and the size of the room.

Khrushchev

As already described above, the size of rooms in an apartment in Khrushchev does not exceed 4 squares. And we have to do something about it. In which situations is it better to use a large bathtub, and in which it is worth taking a smaller tank. Let's talk about this.

Naturally, everything depends on desire and needs. If nothing else is planned in the bathroom, except for the washbasin and the reservoir (maximum hanging pencil case or cabinet), you can afford a luxurious 1.7 meters long bath. But even if there is a centralized water supply system, and hot water does not depend on the heater, such baths are 0.4-0.8 meters wide. This parameter should also be taken into account during installation. Moreover, these sizes are quite suitable for comfortable water procedures for one person.

If a more functional filling is planned in the bathroom, for example, a washing machine, some furniture, a laundry basket, for example, a washbasin, etc., it is quite possible to get by with a sit-down bath. It can be as little as 0.9 m long, which will save a lot of space for other elements. Moreover, modern sitz baths are the most convenient thing. Most of them are equipped with comfortable handles and a seat. It is also comfortable to take such a bath, with the difference that it will not be possible to recline in it.

Another way to organize a small space would be to install a shower stall. And here you need to make a clarification. Some showers have a full bathing tank, large enough to comfortably receive water treatments.

Now let's take a look at the types of tanks that can be installed in small bathrooms:

  • corner;
  • rectangular;
  • oval;
  • square;
  • round.

Rectangular ones are a relative standard, so we will spend less time on them. Let's take a look at others. Oval and round bathrooms are suitable if no further installations are planned in the apartment. Then you can perfectly place one tank even in the middle of the room and enjoy exclusively water procedures. The same goes for square bathrooms. Although they are easier to attach to the wall, due to their shape, they will take up a lot of actual and visual space.

Corner baths are a real way to further save space. They usually go 1/3 of a circle.

Panel houses

This category includes projects of 9-20-storey buildings, which are really equipped with more or less spacious rooms, up to 6-8 square meters. Despite the outwardly small format, this footage is more than enough for rooms of this purpose in an apartment. In them, by the way, it is possible to set not only standards, but also baths measuring 1.9 m, as well as overall Jacuzzi, etc.

A more spacious room even asks for a spacious tank. The standards can be very different. And, despite the fact that most manufacturers produce just such formats, you can still find a suitable one.

It is quite possible to choose a wide variety of bathroom shapes in a spacious room. For example, even a Jacuzzi for two can be installed in a room of 8 meters. Its width can be more than a meter, which makes it convenient to take water procedures even for two. This is more a tribute to romance than a necessity.

By the way, it should be noted that in spacious rooms in panel houses, many try to install as many devices as possible, squeezing out, so to speak, the entire usable area. But it is much more convenient to install a minimum of plumbing, for example, one, but a comfortable non-standard bath, which will really delight and bring a long-awaited rest after a hard day.

So, in conclusion, let's summarize: the most common standards for baths are tanks with a length of 1.2, 1.5, 1.7, 1.9 m. Their choice depends on the room, as well as the placement of other elements in it.
